iAPPS

Welcome to the iAPPS frequently asked questions page. Within this section, you will find answers to commonly asked questions about iAPPS and its supporting framework.

What is the iAPPS Framework?

The iAPPS Framework is a .NET application development environment for use by our own project teams, as well as our customers’ .NET technology teams. The iAPPS Framework combines application business logic and object relationship management within a single software architecture. By wrapping a pre-defined core component library with custom development, the iAPPS Framework can benefit almost any front-end web application. Additionally, the iAPPS Framework serves as the development platform for the iAPPS Product Suite.

Can I build my own custom applications with the iAPPS Framework?

Yes, with the Developer Edition, you have access to all of the APIs, features, and functions to create your own applications or build on applications developed for you by Bridgeline professional services teams.

How does the iAPPS Framework differ from the standard .NET framework?

The iAPPS Framework is an extension of .NET.  For example, while .NET may have a membership profile and workflow, it falls short in many areas. The iAPPS Framework extends the scope and functionality of .NET based common business processes. Thus, Bridgeline has made it easier to develop functionality based on business process instead of typical coding logic. Additionally, because of the extensive AJAX-based UI components integrated into the iAPPS Framework, you can seamlessly pull data through the business functions for rendering in advanced browser-based views.

How is the iAPPS Framework licensed?

The iAPPS Framework and Product Suite are available as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business model, with associated maintenance, daily technical operation, and support, or as commercially licensed and supported internal solutions for customers preferring a dedicated server environment (within their firewall or at our facility). Additionally, Bridgeline offers the iAPPS Framework - Developer Edition which provides access to all of the APIs, features and functions to create your own applications.

What are the system requirements to host the iAPPS Framework within our own server environment?

Your system must meet the following requirements in order for you to use the iAPPS Framework software: Pentium IV 2.5Ghz, 1GB RAM, 40 GB Hard Disk, Microsoft Windows XP, 2000/2003 server, Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

Is documentation available for the iAPPS Framework?

Yes, a full Developer guide is available for the iAPPS Framework.

If I build an application on the iAPPS Framework, can I add other iAPPS products later?

Absolutely. That is the power of the iAPPS Framework. Because the iAPPS Framework is the underlying foundation and information storage area, the iAPPS Content Manager, for example, can easily be added and immediately take advantage of the common code base.

What are the benefits of building an application on the iAPPS Framework?

There are many:

  • Access to advanced business process components for rapid and robust application development.
  • Access to AJAX-based state-of-the-art UI components.
  • Building applications from a common, tested platform means significantly improved quality.
  • Ability to add other iAPPS products at a later date.
  • No new training. Leverage existing internal resource skill sets (all .NET-based).
